How to Activate a Bank of America Visa Card
Bank of America issues Visa debit cards to customers with checking accounts. Bank of America also issues Visa credit cards. Any customer who receives a new or replacement Visa card from Bank of America must activate it before use. If you do not activate a Bank of America Visa card, it will become invalid and you will need to request a new one. Card activation is simple and can be done in several ways.

1
Call the 1-800 number on the back of your Bank of America Visa credit card. If using a touch-tone phone, enter the 16-digit card number. Enter the last four digits of the primary cardholder's social security number and/or zip code when requested. A message will let you know once the card has been activated.
For a Bank of America Visa debit card, you only need to use the card at a Bank of America ATM with your PIN to activate it.

2
Call Bank of America customer service at 800-732-9194 for Visa credit cards or 800-432-1000 for Visa debit cards to activate the card with a customer representative. Use this method if a phone-activation process failed (perhaps because of wrong information on the account) or if you had difficulties activating the debit card at an ATM.
