How to Blend Diesel Fuel

How to Blend Diesel Fuel thumbnail
Diesel fuel, in general, is a liquid fuel used in diesel engines.

You can create a home blend of oil and diesel to help the a diesel engine run more efficiently during different climates. This blended fuel can be made with different types of vegetable oil and diesel fuel. The final combination is cheap and easy to create.

Instructions

    • 1

Select an appropriate oil to mix with the diesel fuel. Vegetable oil, for example, is not expensive and can be obtained from most restaurants and delis. Although, such used oil would need to be properly filtered through a fine strainer before usage.

    • 2

Pour and measure equal parts of oil and diesel into a large, clean bucket, and stir the mixture until well blended. Usually, a 50:50 ratio will suffice. In cold climates, a higher ratio of diesel can make the engine run more efficiently, while higher ratios of vegetable oil in warmer climates does the same action.

    • 3

Funnel the blended diesel into the vehicle. Be sure the tank is empty before starting the procedure. Store the excess fuel in a seal container in mild temperatures for later use.

Tips & Warnings

  • After an extremely cool evening, it is likely that that a car with blended fuel may be more difficult to start due to the substance gelling in the tank.
