How to Configure the Polycom 301 MGCP
The Polycom SoundPoint 301 MGCP telephone station is a multifunctional device that's suitable for office-type scenarios. Upon receiving your phone, you'll have questions about how to set it up and program it. Navigating simple steps and performing your own setup tasks will have your SoundPoint 301 ready to use shortly. You can connect your Polycom to a functional telephone line jack, power your Polycom using the AC adapter, program a contact into your contact list and set the date and time on your console.

Confirm that you have the following pieces in your Polycom 301 package: one Polycom SoundPoint 301 console, one power adapter, one handset and handset cord and one network/power cable.

Connect a telephone line to your SoundPoint 301 console by first turning the device over, so that the telephone jacks on the bottom are exposed and easily accessible to you. Plug the supplied network/power line into the first LAN telephone jack located to the far left of the port area. Insert the other end of the network/cable line into a functional telephone jack in your wall or hub device port.

Connect the supplied AC adapter to the "DC" port located to the far right of the port area on the bottom of your SoundPoint 301. Plug the pronged end into a functional wall outlet.

Insert the supplied curly phone cord into the bottom of the handset by pushing the plastic end into the jack until it audibly clicks into place. Insert the free end into the "Handset" port on the bottom of the SoundPoint 301 with an audible click.

Set the date and time on your SoundPoint 301 console by first pushing the "Menu" button. Choose "Settings" from the displayed options by pushing the soft key beneath "Settings." Choose "Basic," "Preferences" and then "Time & Date." Choose form the "Date Format," "Clock Order," Enable/Disable" and "Time Format," using the "Up" and "Down" keys. After setting the time and date to your desire, push the "Select" button to save and then push "Menu" to exit.

Add contacts to your SoundPoint 301's memory by first pushing the "Menu" button. Choose "Features" from the display menu and then "Contacts List." Push the "Add" button to add a contact to your list. Enter the contact's name using the numbered keypad by pushing the numbered button representing the letter you wish to input. Enter letter mode from number mode by first pushing the "1/A/a" button. Push in the contact's telephone number. Push the "Save" button to save your contact to the list and then "Exit" to exit the system.
