How to Add a Joomla Template

Joomla is a fully featured open source content management system that allows you to create a website and content without any Web design or programming experience. Joomla is built on a modular basis, with plug-ins that can be added to give new functionality to the website and templates that allow you to customize the look of the site. By mixing and matching modules, a customized website can be created to fit your requirements, leaving you free to focus on the content.

• Joomla template package file

Instructions

1. Log in to the Joomla backend, using the administrator's user name and password.

2. Move the mouse pointer over the "Extensions" menu item and select "Install/Uninstall" from the drop-down menu that appears.

3. Click the "Browse" button next to the "Package File" text box in the "Upload Package File" area. A dialog box will appear allowing you to select the template package file to be uploaded. Click on "Upload File & Install" to install the new template.

4. Position the mouse pointer over the "Extensions" menu and select "Template Manager" from the drop-down menu to show all the installed templates available. Select a template and click the "Change" button in the top right corner of the administration screen to switch to a different template.

Tips & Warnings

• The Joomla template for your website can be changed at any time to completely change the look of the site without having to modify any of the existing content.

• There are many free Joomla templates online, which can be found using a search engine.
