Rest the oil life light after having an oil change.

When you change the oil in your car the on-board diagnostic computer may not register that it is full, and the oil light will remain lit. This tells you that the oil has to be changed in the car even though it does not. You need to reset the on-board diagnostic computer with an OBD scan tool that can be purchased at an automotive supply store. This will reset the computer codes and the remaining oil life light.
