How to Obtain a Peddler's Business License

In business terms, a peddler is a traveling vendor who sells goods, such as a hot dog vendor or other street-cart type merchant. Most U.S. cities and states require peddlers to obtain a license or permit before conducting business on public sidewalks and streets. These permits are often available for a nominal fee and are relatively easy to obtain.

2. Complete any required paperwork for the peddler's license, if your state or local municipality requires one. Typically, you will have to fill out an application, available from the chamber of commerce or state licensing bureau.

3. Pay any administrative or application fees.

4. Wait until you receive your permit before opening up shop. Selling without a permit can carry serious penalties.
