How to Create a Webpage Design
A Web page design is the format and style that your visitor sees when accessing your website. This design must make your content easy to use and read so that the viewer stays on your page and gets the benefit of all you have to offer. Before creating the page, sit down and sketch out your ideas. This way, you have a solid blueprint to use when coding the page, or else you have a useful tool to give to a Web design company when discussing your ideas for your website.

1
Use a pencil and paper to write down all of the components of your page, such as a header banner, that you want your design to encompass. In addition to your content and images, common elements include a navigation bar, footer and contact feature.
-
2
Use a clean sheet of paper to sketch your design, while you reference the paper in the above step to ensure that you include everything. Draw a rectangle for your header banner, which includes the page name and a logo, somewhere at the top. Be sure to create this form as small or as large as you want it in relation to your page.

3
Sketch your navigation, or menu, bar where you want it to appear. Navigation menus are typically found at the top (underneath the header banner) or to the left on the page and they list the top pages of your site to help guide your visitor. Write the page names that you want to include, such as "Home" and "About," on the menu.
-
4
Draw a square or multiple squares to indicate where you want a block or blocks of text to appear. Write "content" in the square(s) and make a note of what kinds of text you want to display in each one. This content needs to effectively communicate what your page is about.
-
5
Sketch a form on the page to indicate where you want special features, such as images and a newsletter, to display. Make sure to write in the feature names so that you know what the shapes stand for.
-
6
Write down the colors for your page elements, such as the text and links, that you want your page to display. Choose a background and font color combination, such as a white background with dark text, that is easy for the visitor to read.
-
7
Write your preferred footer message at the bottom of the page. This text typically contains a copyright symbol, the page owner name(s) or business name and the year that the page is published.
