How to Find a Person by Doing a Reverse License Plate Lookup
You may need to hunt down the owner of a car for any number of reasons, and it is possible to do so, even if you are only equipped with the license plate number of the car. Perhaps you were involved in an accident, and the other driver fled the scene, or maybe you want to find out more about a car that is for sale. There are Web services you can use to find the owner of any plate number through reverse search.

Navigate to a website that offers reverse license plate search. These include, but are not limited to, License Plate Search, Reverse License Plate Lookups and License Plate Hunter (see Resources). Note that some of these sites charge fees, so you may wish to search for free sites, as well.

Select the state in which the license plate is registered in the "State" field to narrow the search. These sites also offer a "Nationwide" option, if you do not know the state origin of plate.

Enter the license plate number in the "License Plate" field.

Click on "Reverse Lookup" or "Search" to get the registration details of the license plate.
