How to Endorse a Check to a Third Party
When you endorse a check, your signature authorizes the bank on which the check is written to release funds to a person other than you or the check issuing party. Sign a third party check, which constitutes a special endorsement, in order to authorize someone other than you or the check issuing party to cash the check. Making a special endorsement means you cannot collect the funds from the check.
