How to Copy Audi Keys
Over the last decade, technological advances have turned keys from simple pieces of metal to complex electronic tools. Audi automobile keys are no different and have remote opening and locking buttons, remote starters and alarms. Examine the Audi key to be copied. Keys vary depending on the year and model and whether you currently use the original or a replacement key.

Call an local Audi dealer. Give them the year and model of the vehicle and describe the key to be copied. Ask the dealer if the key contains any electronic chips that would prevent it from being copied at a local grocery or hardware store.

Have the key copied at either the local Audi dealer or a local store, depending on what the dealer says. Always follow the dealer's instructions. If an Audi key is improperly copied, the car may not start and its electronic systems may be damaged.

Tips & Warnings
If an older model Audi has an electronic chip implanted in it, it has a large black plastic cover at the end of the key. This covering protects the chip.
Never use a copied key in an Audi unless you are certain the original keys that came with the car did not contain any electronic chip.
