Instructions

    • 1

Choose a metal watering can. Pick a galvanized tin bucket for a rustic, farmhouse-inspired look. Go for a painted can featuring a bright color, such as blue, red or green, for a fresh style.

    • 2

Decorate the can with paint and stencils. Choose stencils featuring designs that coordinate with the overall party, such as flowers and ladybugs for a garden theme. Hold the stencil against the can with one hand. Dip a small brush into acrylic paint and use it to fill in the stencil with your other hand. Allow the paint to dry thoroughly. Protect the painted design with spray acrylic sealer.

    • 3

Fill a vase that is slightly shorter than the watering can with water. Place the vase in the can. Cut a piece of florist foam and soak it in cool water if a vase won't fit inside the watering can. Set the water-soaked foam in the bottom of the can.

    • 4

Insert freshly cut flowers into the water-filled vase or foam. Choose cheery sunflowers, a handful of wildflowers or orange and yellow daisies for a relaxed, country look. Pick white and pink roses or elegant calla lilies to juxtapose casual with elegant.
