How to Convert Photos to Cross Stitch Patterns

You can make your own cross-stitch patterns.

Cross stitch can be a fun activity for hobbyists and crafters alike. While making cross stitch designs based on pre-existing patterns is enjoyable and popular, you could have a one of a kind cross stitch pattern based on an image that is important to you. There are many websites that offer photo-to-pattern services to help you do just that.

Instructions

1. Choose an image that you would like to turn into a cross-stitch pattern.

2. Upload the image or photo from your computer to one of the websites that offers photo-to-pattern services. Some of these websites even offer an image gallery for you to chose an image from if you do not have one to upload.

3. Manipulate the image to achieve the desired size and shape, then select the "generate chart" option.

   This will transform your image into a cross-stitch pattern. Usually patterns that contain less than 1000 stitches can be downloaded for free.
