How to Install an Audiovox Overhead DVD

Having an Audiovox overhead DVD player installed in your car makes long road trips more enjoyable for everyone. An important key to installing an overhead DVD is removing the headliner that lies under the support bracket, so that the bracket fits flush against the ceiling to reduce screen vibration while the vehicle is in motion. The installation process uses common household tools and only takes about an hour to complete.

Instructions

Use the small flat-head screwdriver to create space between the ceiling and the overhead dome light. When the dome light is loose enough to grab, pull it out from the ceiling nook and unplug the wire harness from the back. Tuck the wires up into the ceiling nook.

Hold the support bracket over the hole in the ceiling. Trace around the bracket with a box cutter to cut out the headliner. Remove the support bracket from the ceiling and remove the piece of headliner.

Pull the wires out from the ceiling nook and thread them through the wire slot on the support bracket. Hold the bracket up to the ceiling and drill a hole in all 4 corners of the bracket using a drill with a machine tap drill bit. Continue drilling into the ceiling but do not drill deeper than the depth of the ceiling. A machine tap drill bit creates threaded holes that you use to secure the screws.
