How to Change the Battery in a TomTom G920

How to Change the Battery in a TomTom G920 thumbnail
Use the TomTom G920 to get you to where you are going.

It is not possible to change the battery of the TomTom G920. This is a factory process that requires you to send your unit in to be repaired. The G920 does not have a removable battery, and trying to replace it by yourself could damage the unit and may also void your warranty. TomTom has been producing GPS navigation units and their supporting software since 1991.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug your G920 in with the home charger, home dock, or car charger to determine if it is a battery issue, or if the issue lies with the unit itself.

    • 2

Charge the battery for 2 hours. Then attempt to turn on the unit while it is unplugged.

    • 3

Remove the SD card from the device.

    • 4

Reset the device. Use a small pointy object like a paperclip to push the reset button for 15 seconds.

    • 5

Turn on the device and re-insert the SD card. If this has not solved the battery issue, contact Customer Services to return the device and have the battery replaced. The Customer Services contact number is found on the TomTom website (see References).
