How to Improve Your Posture With a Brace
Your posture can take a hit when you spend your day sitting in a chair, or if you spend your day doing heavy labor. There are various ways to improve your posture, including wearing a brace. Wearing a brace to improve your posture takes time and won't work right away. But not only will it help keep your back straight, just the feeling of wearing it will remind you throughout the day to check your posture.

Visit your doctor to discuss the proper brace to use. While you can purchase a brace at a medical supply store without a doctor's recommendation, it's ideal to have a doctor give you this information. Choosing a brace that doesn't fit is counterproductive. Ask your doctor what he recommends.

Go to a medical supply store and purchase the brace. Consult the sales person and tell her what your doctor has recommended. Braces come in a variety of styles and fit. Rely on what your doctor has recommended in terms of style, fit and brand.

Try on several braces at the medical supply store. Consider whether or not you would like one suited for just posture control or one that supports the entire torso, which often gives more support.

Wear the brace three to four times during the day. Each time, wear the brace for 30 to 60 minutes per session. Do so at least four times per week. If you wear it daily in the beginning, you will likely notice more results. While the brace should not be extremely uncomfortable, a little bit of discomfort is okay and maybe ideal as it will remind you to sit straight throughout the day.
