How to Configure a Voice Adapter for a VoIP Service

You can configure a VoIP device with Ethernet cord.

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services give people the opportunity to make calls via the Internet. They let you phone people who live in various locations in America and around the world at fairly low rates compared to land-line phones. You can also configure other devices, such as a Linksys voice adapter (to help your voice sound better during a call), to work with your VoIP system without much effort.

Things You'll Need

• Ethernet cord
• Linksys voice adapter

Instructions

1. Attach your Linksys adapter to your router via Ethernet cord.

2. Attach your phone to the voice adapter "Line 1" slot with a telephone cord.

3. Dial the code *110#* on your phone. Write down the numbers that you get back in return because this identifies your phone adapter's IP (Internet Protocol) address.

4. Launch a browser on your computer and enter the IP address that you just received.

5. Click "Admin Login" and "Line 1."

6. Type in the information -- such as your user name -- according to the prompts. Your VoIP service gives you this data.
