How to Program a Harmony One Universal Remote

The Harmony One remote uses your computer during the programming process to connect the remote to your devices instead of needing to look up and input manufacturer codes like most other universal remotes. Since the setup process is so different from most other remotes, many users get lost when trying to operate this remote without proper instructions. After the installation process, this remote works much like all other remotes.

1. Insert the installation CD. Follow the instructions on the online setup guide. After the software installs, it automatically looks for updates.

2. Create an account by following the onscreen setup. The software checks your connection to make sure the remote can communicate with the software. Fill out the device worksheet so you have all the information you need at hand.

3. Set up the devices. The software walks you through the process of entering the manufacturer and model numbers of the remote. You are then asked some questions on how your entertainment system is connected, the system optimizes the settings based on your answers.

4. Update the remote. The software transfers the information from all the previous steps and sends it from your PC to your remote.
