Practice proper foot movement while skateboarding in Nike SB Dunks.

Nike Skateboarding offers a wide variety of skateboarding shoes and apparel. Nike SB Dunk shoes are available in several styles, including the Dunk Low Pro SB, Dunk Mid Pro SB and the Dunk High Premium SB. The Nike SB Dunks feature the classic Nike Dunk design with several modifications for flexibility, durability and support. Learn how to skate comfortably in Nike SB Dunks without causing excessive wear-and-tear damage to the shoes.

Instructions

    • 1

Place your feet on the grip tape of the skateboard with the soles of your shoes flat against the grip tape. Refrain from applying pressure to either side of the skateboard until you wish to turn or perform a trick. When riding in regular stance, keep your feet on top of the skateboard at all times to prevent the SB Dunk shoes from dragging against the ground while you are skateboarding.

    • 2

Press the tail-end of the skateboard down using your back-foot when you need to slow down instead of using the sides of your shoes to slow down. Practice allowing the skateboard to come to a complete stop on its own at all times.

    • 3

Practice sliding your feet quickly when performing tricks such as ollies, kickflips and heelflips, so that your Nike SB Dunk shoes are only making brief contact with the skateboard's grip tape. Alternating positions between front-foot and back-foot while skateboarding may help to distribute unavoidable wear and tear on the shoes more evenly.

    • 4

Change your Nike SB Dunk's shoe laces if they show wear. If your shoe laces snap, the skateboard's grip tape may damage the sides and tongue of your shoes when you are performing tricks.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you notice that a certain trick is wearing down a specific part of your Nike SB Dunks, adjust the position of your feet slightly so that your grip tape is not meeting the same part of the shoes each time you perform the trick.

  • Always keep your Nike SB Dunk shoes tied while skateboarding. This will provide additional support for your ankles and help you to avoid tripping over shoe laces while skateboarding.
