You 1997 Sea Doo needs special care before storing it for the winter. The winterizing process must be done to ensure a long-lasting personal watercraft. Water inside the engine needs to be drained or it will cause corrosion and may even crack the engine block. The carburetor also needs special attention to avoid problems in the spring. Instead of trailering your watercraft to the boat shop, purchased the supplies and do the process yourself.

      Pull your Sea Doo out of the water onto the cradle or trailer.

      Fill the fuel tank with fuel.

    • 3

      Start the engine by pressing the button on the handlebars. Turn the handlebars in a back and forth motion to allow the water to drain from the engine. Do not allow the engine to run for more than 30 seconds.

      Shut the engine off and allow it to cool for 10 minutes.

      Open the engine hatch and locate the carburetor. Your Sea Doo may have one, two or three carburetors depending on the engine size.

      Start the engine and allow it to idle while you spray fogging oil into the carburetors until the engine stalls.

      Remove the battery cables with a wrench. Remove the battery from the compartment and set it on a shelf in your garage.

      Reinstall the engine hatch.
