Make Baby Diaper Cards

Babies go through thousands of diapers in their first year of life, so a diaper card is a very appropriate representation of what life is like with a new baby. Diaper cards are adorable ways to invite guests to a baby shower you are hosting or to announce the birth of your new baby. They require a bit of time to design, cut and assemble, but the finished cards look far cuter than any real baby diaper ever could. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Download a baby diaper card template (see Resources) and print it onto a piece of card stock. Enlarge it with a photocopier if you would like to make larger baby diaper cards.

    • 2

Cut out the diaper card template.

    • 3

Trace the diaper shape onto decorative paper, such as scrapbooking paper, leftover wallpaper from the baby's bedroom or colored card stock.

    • 4

Cut out each diaper along the traced outline. If the card is for a baby girl, consider using scissors with a scalloped design to make the edge of the diaper card decorative.

    • 5

Write the baby shower or birth announcement information on the inside of the diaper or print it on a card that will fit inside the folded diaper. For a baby shower, include the date, time, location, mom's name, host's name and RSVP information. For a birth announcement, write the baby's full name, date of birth, length and weight, along with the parents' names.

    • 6

Fold the triangular portion of the diaper card up to make the front of the diaper. Fold the triangles extending out the sides to the center like the adhesive side tabs on a real diaper.

    • 7

Punch two holes, each of which goes through both a side tab and the front portion of the diaper card. You should have about one inch between the holes.

    • 8

Cut a piece of decorative ribbon about 6 inches long and slip it through the holes. Then tie the ends together on the front of the diaper card. Alternately, secure the diaper card with a diaper pin.
