Many Mazda vehicles, such as the CX-9, may come equipped with a GPS navigation system. This system, which provides drivers with turn-by-turn directions, can prove useful for driving through unfamiliar areas. Map updates for Mazda navigation systems typically come out once per year. You can purchase these updates on a DVD through Mazda's online store. Inserting the DVD into the navigation system updates the maps and renders them ready to use.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase the most current map update from the Mazda navigation website (see Resources section for a link). As of October 2010, the update DVD costs $199. Once you purchase the update, Mazda will send it to you on DVD.

    • 2

Open the CX-9's trunk, and lift the trunk board to reveal the cargo subcompartment. The navigation system DVD drive sits on the right side of the compartment.

    • 3

Remove the plastic cover from the DVD drive. Set the vehicle's ignition to the "ACC" position, then press "Eject" on the DVD drive to eject the current disk.

    • 4

Insert the new map DVD. When the disc loads, the new maps have finished updating.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not turn off the vehicle or eject the disc during the update, which may cause malfunctions.
