How to Overclock an AMD Turion 64 Mobile

Save

AMD Turion 64 mobile technology processors are mid-range performance CPUs intended for notebook computers. Overclocking is a way to get more value without spending more on upgrading internal components. An overclocked Turion 64 exceeds the speed of its factory settings, which increases the computer's overall operating efficiency.

  • Start your computer and press the "Esc," "F8" or "F11" key (the exact key to press varies depending on computer) before the Windows welcome screen appears. This brings up the startup menu.

  • Highlight the "BIOS" option on the menu. Left-click your mouse or press the "Enter" key.

  • Choose the "External Bus" or "Bus" portion of the BIOS list. Press "Enter."

  • Highlight the value next to the "Front Side Bus." Press the "Enter" key once to choose the value.

  • Hit the up-arrow key to increase the value. Press the "Enter" key to confirm the value change for the Turion's front bus speed.

  • Return to the BIOS menu and choose the "CPU Core" or "CPU" section of the menu, depending on your system's setup.

  • Locate the "Multiplier" option and its value on the list that appears. Highlight the value.

  • Press the "Enter" key to select the value. Hit the up-arrow key one time to increase the value, to raise the Turion 64 Mobile's frequency multiplier.

  • Return to the BIOS menu. Pick the "Save Changes and Quit" option to confirm the changes. Exit to return to the normal Windows boot session.

Tips & Warnings

  • Select "Restore to Default" in the BIOS menu if you decide to return to Turion 64 Mobile's factory settings.
