How to Turn "Caps Lock" off on a Phone


Learning how to use simple functions on your mobile phone such as the "Caps Lock" feature allows you to use your device more efficiently. When you want to use special symbols or return to the original text case, you will need to know how to turn off the feature. Turning off "Caps Lock" on your mobile phone can be done from the messaging application or through "Settings," depending on your phone.

From Messaging

  • Open a messaging application on your phone such as SMS, email or IM.

  • Select the option to compose a message or scroll to a text-entry field. Press the "Alt" key, then press the "Caps" key. This will turn off the feature, if it is already activated. Depending upon the model of your mobile phone, you can simply press the "Caps" key, which maybe a large arrow pointing up, to turn off the feature.

  • Press the "Alt" key, followed by the "Caps" key again to turn the feature back on.

From Settings

  • Open the "Settings" application on your phone.

  • Select the option "Keyboard." Depending upon the model of your phone, you may need to select "General" first to bring up the "Keyboard" setting.

  • Locate the feature "Caps Lock." Select the "Disable" option.
