How to Post an Electronic Resume

Posting your resume on the Internet is easy with a few clicks of your mouse.

The days of printing and mailing a paper copy of a resume to a company when applying for a job is becoming a thing of the past. Increasingly, with the popularity of the Internet, job-seekers have turned to posting their resumes online. There are numerous sites you can post an electronic resume to, including company career websites, general job search websites and recruitment websites.

Instructions

1. Compile your resume. Use a word processing application such as Microsoft Word or Corel WordPerfect to compile your resume.

2. Save a copy of your resume to your computer in an easy to find directory. Use the "save as" function in your word processing application.

3. Explore the Internet for the specific website where you will post your resume. For example, you can post your resume on a company's individual website or on a general job search website such as Monster.com or CareerBuilder.com.

4. Register to the chosen website with your e-mail address before posting your resume. A confirmation will be e-mailed to you to enable you to login to the website.

5. Click on the confirmation e-mail, which will take you directly to the website where you want to post your resume. Enter a user name, a password, your same e-mail address and conact information to finalize your registration.

6. Click on the "next" button, which will take you to the specific section that requests the posting of a resume or, on certain websites, there will be a button that states "post your resume".

7. Click on the "browse" option and locate the computer directory where you have saved your resume.

8. Click on "upload" to post your electronic resume to the website.

Tips & Warnings

• You should receive a confirmation e-mail to your account once your resume is posted. You can also upload your resume in other formats, such as HTML.

• Double check that your resume posted correctly by viewing it onscreen. Online processing programs can distort the formatting of your resume.
