1
Moisturize your skin before shaving. Use a body lotion or a hair conditioner to soften the skin. Do not rub in vigorously. Allow the product to sit on the skin for a few minutes before rinsing the area thoroughly with water.
-
2
Soak in the shower or tub before starting to shave. Allowing the skin to get saturated with water will open the hair follicle and make shaving easier with less irritants.

3
Shave with a sharp blade. A dull blade is more prone to nicks and cuts, ingrown hairs and razor burn, which all cause itching. A sharp blade also will reduce pull on the hair.
-
4
Lather with a shave gel or cream. Dry shaving can lead to itchy skin irritations. Use a sensitive skin formula for ultimate protection. Apply liberally.
-
5
Stroke upwards, in the opposite direction of hair growth. The only spot on the body which you should not use upward strokes is the armpit, in which hair grows in multiple directions.
-
6
Avoid repeat strokes in the same area. Shaving the same spot continuously can cause irritation, which may lead to itching. If you find the need to shave the same spot over and over you probably need a new razor.
