How to Look Punk for Girls
Dressing in a punk style can be freeing for many girls who struggle to express themselves outside of the norm or want to fit in with a group of friends without losing their individuality. Luckily, girls can look punk by taking a few basic suggestions and tailoring them to their own personal style. While there are many punk retailers in malls and online, remember to choose the items and styles you like rather than buying straight off the mannequin. The core of punk is not about fashion but being yourself.

1
Cut your hair into a unique style. Many punk haircuts on girls are asymmetrical and architectural rather than having soft curls or straight, long hair. One side of your hair can be long while the other is short or portions of your hair can be spiked along the sides, top, front or back. Often adding in highlights of red, blond, gray or a wilder color can make your one-of-a-kind cut really stand out.

2
Pick out baby doll tees or tank tops for a base layer to your clothing. Look for these tops in deeper colors with graphic printings on them, such as scrolling designs, graffiti-style wording or stars. Layer over your tee or tank with a long-sleeved shirt in plaid or black or use an oversized sweatshirt with the neckline cut off to widen the top.

3
Choose black, dark blue or gray jeans that are solid colored, ripped or have patches or printed designs. Select skirts to wear with patterned leggings for a slightly more flirty punk look. Avoid heavily baggy or overly tight pants as well as long skirts or miniskirts so you are comfortable from head to toe.

4
Apply makeup around the eyes using black or dark eyeliner and a shadow effects eye shadow kit. Dark, pink or red lipstick are all suitable, but avoid heavy blush. Always exercise good skin care routines such as washing your face regularly and applying an SPF moisturizer to ensure healthy skin now and later in life.

Add accessories to your look from chain necklaces and leather bracelets to stud earrings and spunky hair accessories. Wear dark-colored sneakers or boots that are comfortable and detailed by the designs and lacing.

Tips & Warnings
Be original and don't wear something that makes you uncomfortable. Punk remains a mindset of expression, not a fashion to be marketed. Punk doesn't have to mean wearing black or dark plaids all the time. If you like pink, then wear pink in a new way that brings your style into play.
