How to Reverse a Phone Call

Save

A reverse charge call or collect call can be a life saver if you are stranded without a cellular phone or change for a pay phone. A reverse charge call costs you nothing to make, as the bill is passed on to the person on the other end, as long as he agrees to the request. You can make a reverse charge call between any landline telephones. You can make and connect a reverse charge call in just a few seconds.

  • Pick up the receiver and dial "0."

  • Wait for the operator to answer or listen to the automated instructions for placing a reverse charge call. If an operator answers, explain that you need to make a reverse charge call.

  • Dial the number you want to call when prompted by the automated service. If an operator is on the line, tell him the number you want to call.

  • Record your name. In order for the person you are dialling to know who is calling, a recording of your name will be played over the phone before he chooses to accept or deny the charges.

  • Wait to be connected. It may take a few seconds for your call to connect while the person on the other end accepts the charges.
