How to Install the Battery in a '99 Chrysler Concorde

You will find the battery for the 1999 Chrysler Concorde inside the wheel well of the front, passenger-side wheel. You need to remove it to gain access to the battery compartment. Buy a battery from an auto-parts store or Chrysler dealer and replace it yourself for a substantial cost savings over having a mechanic do it for you. Deliver the old battery to a dealer or auto retailer for proper disposal or recycling.

Things You'll Need

• Lug wrench
• Jack
• Wrench set

Instructions

1. Loosen the lug nuts on the passenger-side front wheel using a lug wrench. Lift the front of the car with a jack. Remove the lug nuts and the wheel.

2. Remove the access panel cover just inside the wheel well by pulling straight back. Disconnect the negative cable with a wrench. Repeat the process with the positive cable. Slide the battery off the mounting shelf.

3. Insert the new battery onto the shelf. Attach the positive battery cable. Tighten the connection with a wrench. Attach the negative cable. Tighten it with a wrench. Press the battery compartment cover back into place until it locks.

4. Replace the passenger-side tire. Thread the lug nuts on the lugs. Lower the car to the ground. Tighten the lug nuts with a lug wrench.
