How to Remotely Access DSL Modem
As part of your DSL service subscription, you are given a DSL modem by the service provider to access the Internet. For most people, the default settings on the modem are sufficient for everyday use. However, if you want to configure the settings for your specific needs, you will need to access the modem. The configuration page of the modem can be remotely accessed using a Web browser.

Check the connection between the DSL modem and the computer. Make sure the Ethernet cable is fully inserted into both the computer and the modem and that both devices are turned on.

Launch a Web browser, and then enter the IP address of the DSL modem into the address bar. An example of what the IP address of a modem looks like is this: 192.168.1.3. Check your user's manual for the exact IP address of your modem. The modem's login page will open.

Type in the user name and password to access the configuration page for the modem. The exact user name and password will be listed in your user's manual.

Click the tabs in the window to access the options for the modem. For example, click "Security" to change the user name and password to access the modem. Click "Save" to save the changes.
