How to Uninstall Cracked Apps on an iPhone

If you have "unlocked" your iPhone by downloading and installing software that permits you to use the phone on any mobile network, you might also have installed applications not available for purchase through iTunes' app store, also known as "cracked apps." One disadvantage of these apps, which you must download through an intermediary called "Cydia," is that you can't delete them as you would regular apps without making some modifications to Cydia itself.

  • Open the Cydia application by tapping the "Cydia" icon on your iPhone screen.

  • Download the "CyDelete" application from the Cydia Store, which will allow you to uninstall cracked apps as you would any other app. Tap the "Cydia Store" bar within the "Cydia" application, then type "CyDelete" into the "Search" field and tap "Go." Tap the "CyDelete" icon to download and install it onto your phone, then tap the "Reset SpringBoard" button to refresh your iPhone to reflect the installation.

  • Find the cracked app you want to delete and hold your finger down on its icon until it begins "wiggling." Tap the black "x" icon in its top, left corner to delete it.

  • Uninstall cracked apps via the main Cydia interface. Tap the "Manage" button at the bottom of the Cydia screen and tap the name of the application you want to uninstall. Tap the "Modify" button, then "Remove," then "Confirm" to confirm the removal. Tap the "Reset SpringBoard" button to refresh your iPhone to reflect the removal.
