How to Update the Navigation System in a 2007 GMC Yukon XL

Save

When purchasing a GMC vehicle, such as the 2007 Yukon XL, from a dealership, buyers often have the option to add optional features. One such feature is a GPS navigation system. This navigation system is built into the vehicle and provides turn-by-turn directions and other information while driving. Every year, map updates are released for GMC navigation systems that can be purchased from the GM Navigation Disc Center website. Once the update DVD is purchased, it can be installed on the navigation system.

  • Go to the GM Navigation Disc Center website. Click the "Search" button on the right side of the page. Use the menus on the left to select "GMC," then "Yukon" and "2007." Click "Search."

  • Enter the quantity of update DVDs you want to purchase, then click "Add Items to Cart" and "Check out." The update DVD is then mailed to you.

  • Turn on the vehicle. When the radio wakes up, press the "Power" button, then set the screen to Full Screen mode by using the "Navi screen up/down" button.

  • Insert the new DVD into the disc drive. Press "Update," and enter the authentication code printed on the DVD case. Press "Enter."

  • Wait for the update to complete, which may take approximately two and a half hours. When complete, remove the disc from the drive.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not remove the disc or turn off the vehicle during the update. Doing so may damage the GPS.
