How to Remove an Ad Blocker Installed in Browsers

Save

The ad blocker or pop-up blocker installed in your web browser's window can only be removed if it was installed as part of a third-party application. If this pop-up blocker is a built-in browser feature, you will not have the option of removing it. You will, however, be able to disable the pop-up blocker from the browser's settings menu. Once you have uninstalled a third-party ad-blocker or disabled the pop-up blocker in your browser, your browser will no longer suppress pop-up advertisements, thus making your computer more susceptible to unwanted and potentially harmful content.

Start Menu Uninstall

  • Click the "Start" button, and click the "All Programs" link.

  • Click the name of the pop-up blocker's folder, and then click the "Uninstall" shortcut link. The installation wizard displays on screen.

  • Click the "Next" button to begin the uninstallation. Click the "Finish" button after the process finishes. Restart your computer.

Programs and Features Removal

  • Click the "Start" button, and then click the "Control Panel" link.

  • Click the "Uninstall a program" option under the "Programs" section.

  • Click the name of the pop-up toolbar you wish to remove, and then click the "Uninstall" button. The Installation wizard displays on screen.

  • Click the "Next" button to begin the uninstallation. Click the "Finish" button after the process finishes. Restart your computer.

Disabling Browser Pop-up Blocker

  • Click the "Start" button, and then double-click the selected browser's application shortcut.

  • Click the "Tools" menu, and then click the "Options" heading.

  • Click the "Content" tab, then click the "Block pop-up windows" check box. Click the "OK" button to apply the changes, and close the window. Restart your browser.

Tips & Warnings

  • You have the option of disabling the pop-up blocker instead by opening your browser and right-clicking on the toolbar, then clicking the "Disable" option.
