How to Set Up Your Sling Box Solo
The Slingbox Solo is an entry-level Slingbox device that allows you to watch any one of your home-theater devices in standard or high definition on any computer or compatible mobile phone with an Internet connection from anywhere in the world. However, before you can watch programming from your Slingbox Solo, you need to set up the device to work with your home-theater device.

Attach one end of the composite A/V cable to the audio/video "Output" on the home-theater device you want to use with your Slingbox solo. You can connect the Slingbox solo to many home-theater components including a DVR, a cable box, a satellite receiver or a DVD player. You can only connect the Slingbox solo to one device at a time.

Connect the other end of the composite A/V cable to the audio/video "Input" on the Slingbox Solo.

Connect the remote control IR cable to the IR connection on the Slingbox. Place the sensor end of the IR cable near the IR sensor on the home-theater component you want to use with the Slingbox Solo.

Attach the Ethernet cable into the Slingbox "Network" connection and connect the other end to an available Ethernet port on your home network's router.

Attach the power adapter to the back of the Slingbox Solo and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet.

Connect your computer to the same network you attached the Slingbox Ethernet cable to. You can hard-wire your computer to the same router or you can use a Wi-Fi connection.

Open the Web browser on your computer and download the Slingbox Solo software (See Resources). Click the "Setup your Slingbox" link and follow the prompts to create a Slingbox account and complete the installation of your Slingbox Solo.

Tips & Warnings
You can use a high-definition component cable or an S-video in place of the composite A/V cable in Steps 1 and 2. These cables offer better picture quality than a composite cable.
