The settings on netbooks and other small laptops make it hard to see video games.

You've found a game that you love to play, but you can't see the screen, so you're frustrated. Although most store-bought video games allow you to maximize the screen of the game you play, Internet games found on websites often place their games in little square boxes in the middle of a larger screen. Don't worry. With a few simple Internet commands, you can make those tiny games into full-screen adventures.

Instructions

    • 1

Enter the Web page of the game you wish to play.

    • 2

Maximize the Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome or Safari screen on which you wish to play your game. Click on the maximize (square) button in the top-right corner of the screen for Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome, or drag the bottom-right corner of Safari.

    • 3

Click "Ctrl" ("Cmd" for Safari) and "+" on your keyboard at the same time. This zooms in on your screen. Use the bottom and right-side screen adjustment bars to move the screen so your whole game is visible.

Tips & Warnings

  • Computer owners call keyboard commands that change the zoom of your screen, open files or otherwise perform functions you generally perform with your mouse "hotkeys" or "keyboard shortcuts." Keyboard shortcuts enable you to control the actions of your computer much faster than using a mouse (especially in word-processing programs or other programs where the focus of your hands lies on the keyboard). Learning keyboard shortcuts doesn't just aid the speed at which you control your computer. In the event of the failure of your mouse, you can use the keyboard shortcuts until your mouse is repaired or replaced.

  • Although these commands work on games embedded into websites, they may not work for downloaded games. For store-bought and downloaded games, refer to the manual that accompanies the game to learn how to zoom within that specific game.
