1
Poke a hole in the bottom of an egg with a thumbtack. Make a larger hole on the top of the egg, around 1/8th-inch wide. Insert a needle in the hole to puncture the egg yolk.
-
2
Place a bowl on a flat surface. Hold the egg over the bowl. Blow through the small hole on the bottom of the egg so the insides come out of the larger hole.
-
-
3
Run water through the holes to rinse the eggshells. Allow the eggs to dry completely.

4
Paint half of the outside of the eggshells with acrylic paint. Place the half without paint inside the egg carton until the eggshells dry completely, which will take around 30 minutes. Remove the eggs and paint the other half. Place the dry end of the eggs into the egg carton and allow to dry completely.

5
Cut a large hole in the side of the egg with manicure scissors. You can make the hole as large as you like, but you will generally want it to be around 1- to 1 1/2-inches wide and 2- to 3-inches long so the hole you cut is as large as the front of the egg. The hole size will vary depending on how large the egg is that you use. Rinse the inside of the eggshell out again to ensure that you remove all of the residue.
-
6
Paint the inside of the eggshells with acrylic and allow them to dry. Paint the outside of the egg with another layer of paint to cover any exposed areas from where you cut the hole.
-
7
Cover the outside of the eggs with a layer of glue. Brush the glue on the eggshells with a paintbrush and then roll them in glitter. Allow to dry completely.
-
8
Thread fishing line through a bead cap. Attach the bead cap to the top of the eggshell with a hot glue gun.
-
9
Decorate the inside of the egg ornament. You can add Easter grass or small ornaments to the inside of the egg. You can also add scrapbook embellishments, small toy figurines, construction paper and stickers.
