How to Install Reg File Remote Computer

The Windows registry contains all the computer's hardware and software settings. The registry is a central point for network administrators to control user settings on the desktop. Network administrators can remotely manage the registry using the Registry Editor. In the editor, an "Import" option lets you import a "REG" file into the system. A REG file contains registry entries added to the computer when it is imported.

      Click the local computer's "Start" button. Type "regedit" into the search text box. Press "Enter" to open the Registry Editor.

      Click "File," then "Connect Network Registry." Enter the remote computer's name into the dialog text box. Click "Connect" to establish a connection to the remote computer.

      Click the remote computer's registry name on the left side of the window. Click "File" again in the main menu and select "Import." A dialog window opens.

      Select the REG file on the hard drive. Click "OK" to import the registry keys from the file. Click "OK" to complete the import.
