How to Transfer a Telus Phone to Work on Koodo
Wireless service providers are increasingly allowing customers to use their service with phones purchased elsewhere. Koodo Mobile was started in 2008 as a subsidiary of Telus Communications. It is marketed as a "no frills" wireless service provider, with no contracts and fewer fees than most of the major cell phone companies. Subscribers to the Telus wireless network can switch their Telus phone to the Koodo Mobile network by following a few simple guidelines.
Instructions

1
Check the phone compatibility test on the Koodo website to make sure that your Telus phone is compatible with the Koodo network.
-
2
Unlock your Telus phone. Several websites offer unlocking service for a small fee. Perform an Internet search with your phone name and "unlock code" to find the best service for you. You will need your phone's IMEI to perform the unlocking -- this is a 15-digit international serial number you can find by dialing "*#06#*" on your cell phone.

3
Buy and activate a Koodo SIM card. You can do this on the Koodo website.

Tips & Warnings
Since 2007, the CRTC in Canada mandates wireless number portability, meaning that when you switch cell phone service providers you can keep your phone number. If you wish to keep your number unchanged, do not cancel your Telus account before activating your Koodo account. Phone number transfers must be made by phone or in person at a Koodo retail outlet.
