How to Add Actions in PSE 7.0

Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 is a simplified version of Adobe Photoshop. This product is for people who want to create basic graphics and edit photos, but don't need the bulk or price of the full version of Photoshop. While people who use Photoshop might find this program limiting, you can do many of the same things in Elements that you do in Photoshop. You can even install Photoshop actions you've downloaded. Actions are pre-programmed Photoshop effects you can install and use in your work.

Instructions

    • 1

Download Photoshop actions. There are thousands of free Photoshop actions available online (see "Resources"). Once downloaded, extract the .atn file by double clicking the downloaded file.

    • 2

Open the actions folder. In Windows Vista this is under "My Computer," "ProgramData," "Adobe," "Photoshop Elements," "7.0," "Locale," "en_US" and "Workflow Panels." Windows XP and earlier users can find this folder under "Documents and Settings," "All Users," "Application Data," "Adobe," "Photoshop Elements," "7.0," "Locale," "en_US" and "Workflow Panels."

    • 3

Drag the .atn file from the desktop to the "Actions" folder. Close the folder after copying the file.

    • 4

Open Adobe Photoshop Elements 7. Select the "Guided" tab from the editor and expand "Automated Actions." Check that the action you added is under "Action Player."
