Instructions

    • 1

Gather your cleaning supplies and put them in a caddy or bucket to carry around with you. Rags, glass cleaner, all-purpose cleaner, disinfectant, furniture polish and a feather duster are some necessities you will need for spring cleaning.

    • 2

Remove clutter from your home prior to cleaning. Get rid of clothes, knick-knacks and other items you don't need. Clean out drawers and cabinets and discard unwanted items. Go through your refrigerator and pantry, as well as your medicine cabinets, and discard old or expired items.

    • 3

Work on one room at a time. Start at the top of the house and work your way down. Clean ceiling fans, light fixtures and other high-up items first. Tackle walls and cabinets next. Finish with floors and baseboards.

    • 4

Put an old cotton sock on your hand for cleaning baseboards and other woodwork. Spray a bit of cleaner on the sock and use your hand to wipe.

    • 5

Wash your walls from the bottom and work your way to the top. This will help to avoid any streaking.

    • 6

Dust items in a room prior to vacuuming. This way you are not adding dust to the floors after you have vacuumed.

    • 7

Scrub grout with an old toothbrush. A toothbrush also works well to clean hard-to-reach spots like corners and crevices.

    • 8

Clean windows and glass with crumpled-up newspaper. Newspaper will leave your glass streak-free.

    • 9

Clean the inside and outside of your cabinets, your stove, oven and refrigerator, sinks and dishwasher in the kitchen.

    • 10

Clean bedding, mattresses, drapes and all furniture in the bedrooms. Make sure to flip over your mattress once you have cleaned it.

    • 12

Clean upholstery, drapes, blinds, electronics, pictures, lamps, lampshades, and all furniture in your living room.
