Adding Dogpile to a desktop can save computer users both time and effort. Rather than opening a Web browser and typing in the URL, users can simply click on the desktop shortcut for Dogpile and gain direct access to the Dogpile search page. From there, the Internet surfer can use the Dogpile search engine to locate required information. While there are a few different ways to add Dogpile to the desktop, there is one way that takes just a few seconds and will work on any Windows platform from XP to Windows 7, or even the Mac environment.

      Open your Web browser and type in the URL for Dogpile.

      Click the "Restore Down" box on your Web browser window. This box is located in the upper right hand corner of the Web browser, just before the "X" box that closes the window. Minimize all other windows open on your screen, by click on the box directly to the left of the "Restore Down" box. Now you will see part of your desktop.

      Click the Dogpile favicon in the address bar of your Web browser and hold down. The favicon appears as a small, blue dog paw print, just before the URL. Drag the favicon to your desktop and release the mouse key. You will now have a shortcut on your desktop, complete with the Dogpile paw print. Simply click on the Dogpile paw print and you are off to the Dogpile site.
