How to Treat Fungal Otitis
Fungal otitis is a type of ear infection. Anyone can get this infection, but it mostly occurs in children or adult swimmers. Fungal otitis can take place both inside and outside the ear canal and is caused by moisture, fingernails, ear plugs or acne. Symptoms of fungal otitis are white fungus or discharge in and or outside of the ear canal, earache and a feeling of the ear being stopped up. It can be prevented by keeping the ear canal dry and clean. The only way to cure fungal otitis is with treatment.

Go to your physician and have her look at your ear if you have any of the symptoms of fungal otitis.

Have your physician clean the ear and canal free of any fungus. He will prescribe a topical treatment such as eardrops.

Use the drops as directed by your physician. Usually three to four drops a day are placed in the infected ear. Eardrops for fungal otitis are normally only given for up to five days in most cases. If you have a severe case of fungal otitis, you may be required to continue using eardrops for up to 10 days.

Tips & Warnings
No follow-up treatment is needed unless you are still having symptoms from the infection.
