How to Recover Lost Files Due to Virus
Malware causes significant damage to your computer. It is capable of destroying programs, altering preferences, corrupting data and even deleting files or whole programs. After you have removed the virus and set up better protection, you still have to deal with the aftermath. Recovering deleted files lost due to a virus has been made easier over the years. Windows now stores several versions of your folders and files so you can easily recover any corrupted or deleted files from a previous version with only a few clicks.

Click the "Start" icon and select "Computer" from the list.

Right-click on the folder that contained the deleted file. Select "Restore Previous Versions."

Double-click a dated version from the pop-up menu that appears. Be sure to choose a date before your virus problems began.

Click and drag the file to another location on your computer, such as the desktop or a different folder, to save it there.
