How to Get Rid of Search History

Every time you surf the Internet on your computer, the Web browser keeps track of the pages you visit and the keywords, topics and phrases you type into search boxes. This stored data is known as "search history" or "browsing history." Search history can be helpful if you need to find something you were previously searching for; however, it can also let other people see what you have been searching for and looking at online.

Instructions

  1. Firefox

      Click on "Tools," then select "Clear Recent History."

      Select "Form & Search History" if it is not already selected by default. You can leave the other boxes unchecked.

      Click "Clear Now."

    Internet Explorer

      Click on "Safety," then "Delete Browsing History."

    • 5

      Select "Temporary Internet files, Cookies, and History."

    • 6

      Click "Delete."

    Safari

    • 7

      Click on "Edit," then select "Reset Safari..." A confirmation screen will appear.

    • 8

      Click on "Clear History" and "Clear recent Web searches."

    • 9

      Click "Reset."
