Propane torch
Brazing wire
Brazing permanently joins two metals using a torch. You can use a propane torch to braze most metals you want to join. Propane torches are widely available in your local hardware stores, plumbing supply houses as well as at metalsmith and jewelry supply companies.
Step 1
Clean the metal you plan to braze. Use sandpaper to remove oxidation. Use acetone to remove grease. Use soap and water to remove dirt. Rinse with water. Dry the clean metal.

Step 2
Place the metal on a fire-safe work surface. Arrange the metal you plan to braze so that it cannot move. You can use binding wire, a third hand or a vise to hold the two metals if gravity alone will not hold the metal in place.
Step 3
Heat the two metals you plan to join. When the metals reach the brazing temperature, apply the brazing wire to the seam. Heat the brazing wire until it melts into the seam.
Step 4
Allow the metals to cool to room temperature.

Tie back long hair when using a torch.
Wear protective eye lenses when using a torch.
