1
Remove any makeup from your face and clean your face thoroughly. The leftover makeup residue of most products is oil-based and can prevent the facial from absorbing into your skin. Dampen a washcloth with warm water and place it over your face and neck. Let it sit between three and five minutes while the warmth opens your pores and the water cleans your skin. This ensures that your facial cleaning is deep and thorough.

Place a pot of water on your stove and leave until it boils. Once boiling, remove it from the heat and place a green tea or chamomile tea bag into the hot water. Move the pot of water to a safe area of your kitchen away from the stove, place a towel over your head and lean your face over the pot. The tea and steam will open your pores and prepare your face for the facial process.

Apply your facial mask with care. You can purchase these or make one of your own at home. To make your own, combine 1/2 cup of cooked oatmeal, one egg yolk and 1/2 cup of mashed bananas. Mix your mask until it forms a thick paste. Make sure to include your neck as well as your entire face. Let this sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Herbal masks draw out dirt and oil from deep within your skin. When the time is up, remove your mask.

Use an herbal toner with an aloe vera or witch hazel base on your face and neck. This works as an astringent to remove mask residue from your face as well as to remove any remaining dead cells from your face and neck. Let this sit on your face for five to 10 minutes before removing with a towel.

5
Apply your favorite moisturizer. But avoid using moisturizers with a mineral oil base because these leave a barrier of film on your skin. The facial process is drying to your skin, which makes this final moisturizing process important. Shea butter and rose hip seed oil are excellent bases for your moisturizer.
