How to Calculate Exchange Rate of English Pounds to U.S. Dollars
If you are from the United States and wish to take a trip to England, you will need to have some of your money converted to either English pounds (GBP) or euros. To find the exchange rate for pounds and dollars, you can use one of several online calculators. Keep in mind that many currency exchange locations will charge a fee and thus reduce how much you will get in return.

Visit one of the several currency conversion programs online, like the ones found on the XE, CNN and X Rates websites (see Resources). The following instructions will be for the XE Universal Currency Converter, though the procedure is very similar for all of them.

Select the currency you wish to convert (U.S. dollars) and the currency you want it converted to (U.K. pounds). Enter the amount of money you wish to be converted.

Click "Go" to have the program convert the money. The program will give you a current exchange rate. This rate may change slightly between the time you get the result and the time you convert the money at a currency exchange location.
