DVD-R discs can be used to record video for later use.

Toshiba DVD Recorders allow users to burn video directly to DVD-R and DVD-RW discs for use later in DVD players. There are two methods of recording: Video Mode, which will finalize the disc and make it playable in other machines when the recording is done, and VR Mode, which creates a playlist and leaves the disc open to accepting more video once the scheduled recordings are done.
