How to Reset the iPod Volume Control

A soft reset can help resolve problems with an iPod.

If your iPod is not working correctly, such as a screen freezing or volume controls not working, a "soft" reset should be done. A soft reset is the first step in troubleshooting an iPod.

Instructions

1. Charge the iPod, if needed. The iPod cannot be reset if it is not charged.

2. Slide the "Hold" switch, located on the top of the iPod, back and forth.

3. Press and hold the "Menu" button and "Center" button.

4. Release the buttons once the Apple logo appears on the screen.
