In Windows 7, the System Restore utility is important, especially for computer troubleshooting and repair. It comes pre-installed with your operating system. System Restore creates restore points you can revert your computer to if you are having system issues, or if you accidentally deleted vital components. Whether you want to remove an application or reverse negative changes, restore your computer to an earlier date with ease.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Start" menu. Click the "Control Panel," then "System and Security." Click "Action Center," then "Recovery" and "Open System Restore" to launch the System Restore utility.

    • 2

Click "Next" and select the date you want to restore your computer. Click "Show More Restore Points" if you do not see the restore point you want to revert your computer to. You should see extra restore points. Select your date and click "Next."

    • 3

Click "Finish." System Restore closes Windows and restores your computer to the date you selected.
