Reseting the alarm on the 2003 Subaru Outback.

The 2003 Subaru Outback comes standard with an Alpine alarm system and remote keyless entry. The system works with fobs that control the doors' locks, as well as the vehicle's alarm system. To program new fobs so the car's computer can recognize the signal, or to address problems with current fobs, you may need to reset the alarm system.

Instructions

    • 1

Unlock all doors. Sitting in driver's seat, hold brake down and insert keys into the ignition.

    • 2

Holding down the brake, turn the key from "Lock" to "On," and back again 10 times. The smoother the motion the better. The Subaru will honk once when you have reset the alarm.

    • 3

Program the new fob by opening and closing the driver's door. Press any button on the remote to program.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not turn the key in the ignition too fast or force it to move. Forcing it may break the key or damage the ignition system.
